Powerful piece Michael. I remember back in grade school being amazed by the stories of bread and circuses in ancient Rome. I couldn't imagine how a population could be so entranced by the spectacle that they would fail to see or do anything to challenge the noose that was slowly tightening around their necks. Now it makes total sense.
Thank you. We are pretty far down the route to Rome, but in the end, people do not like nooses around their necks. There will be a reaction of some sort, but who knows when. And it certainly will not be orderly or predictable, let alone the result of a bread & circuses election spectacle. I’m working on an article about this, but with huge apologies, it is taking forever. Soon I hope....
